What's The Big Sports Day all about?

Sports days are lots of fun - so why not jump to it and register your school or youth group to take part? Simply hold your sports day as usual and incorporate a fundraising challenge for Macmillan.

Pupils could collect sponsorship and/or pay a suggested donation to take part. Whether it’s the whole class, the whole year group or the whole school that gets involved, there’s something for everyone. You could even organise the activity as part of a PE lesson, warm-up session or after school club.

Be a star and jump to it

This year, why not hold a sponsored star-jumping challenge as part of your Big Sports Day? You could even try to break the current world record of 51 jumps in one minute! Pupils could either get sponsored per jump, or make a donation to take part in the challenge.

If a star-jumping challenge isn’t right for your school, then why not hold a different activity instead? Here are a few ideas to start you off:

Hold a sponsored 2k race for the whole school to take part in.

Fabulous frisbee  - find out which class can keep it in the air for the longest and get sponsored per minute.

Have a sponsored relay 'marathon' -  how far can your school run in one day?

Shoot some hoops with a three-on-three basketball tournament. Charge a nominal fee and this can form the basis of a donation to Macmillan. The possibilities are endless, but the results are clear. Whether your school raises £30 or £300, you'll be roviding much-needed help and support to adults and childrenaffected by cancer.
